A Proprietary Blend Dry Red Table wine from Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo, Central Coast, California, USA
95 POINTS – The 2012 The Cure is made from 92% Syrah and 4% each of Grenache and Mourvedre. Aged in 40% new French oak, it has a spectacular bouquet of black olives, roasted herbs, smoked black fruits and assorted background meatiness, as well as a massive, full-bodied feel on the palate. It’s not for those craving subtle nuances and lightweight textures, but count me impressed. This is knockout stuff to enjoy over the coming 6-8 years or so, possibly longer. A new estate for me, these wines were poured during my visit with Stephan Asseo at l’Aventure, and to say I was impressed would be an understatement. The wines are made by Michael DeWit, with the fruit sourced mostly from the l’Aventure Vineyard. I think quantity is limited here, so don’t miss a chance at some of these!
